One Anothering (Rooted Rhythms: Week 8)

One Anothering (Rooted Rhythms week 8)

Teaching Big Idea: To fulfill the law of Christ, we must gather together to love and relate with one another in the same ways Jesus Christ loved and relates with us.

Discipleship runs on the rails of the Gospel and relationships. Through the gospel, we discover how Jesus Christ has loved us and relate with us. Through relationships, the Holy Spirit teaches us to extend that same love to one another. This is the law of Christ: “As I have loved you, so you must love one another” (John 13:34).

We cannot fulfill what Jesus commands us to do in isolation. We must gather together so we can accept, challenge, and encourage one another through the hope we have in Jesus Christ. Together, we carry burdens, offer forgiveness, confess our sins, give comfort, and spur one another toward love and good deeds. What we receive from Jesus is what we give to one another. As we wrap God’s family around one another, the Holy Spirit uses gospel-centered relationships to transform us into the new humanity Jesus created us to be. Life change happens in community because transformation occurs through relationships.
